Gear Review
The main question for so many people will be if Bahsei's Mania and Kinras's Wrath would beat out Bahsei's Mania and Advancing Yokeda/Berserking Warrior. However the two setups are very close in DPS.
In general it's recommended that Kinras's Wrath be taken over Advancing Yokeda because of the Major Berserk offered along with the fact it can fill in gaps in Minor Berserk uptimes for you in content. Tzogvin's Warband or Medusa can be both situationally good in place of Kinras's Wrath.
If you don't have Bahsei's Mania, you will need a different Light Armor set to wear on the body. In terms of best to worst, most likely it will be:
- Siroria
- False God's Devotion
- Mother's Sorrow
Z'en's Redress is also a set Magicka Dragonknights can run in their raid teams a lot of the time as a support damage dealer and ideally you would frontbar it but it can also be put on both bars or body if your other set isn't Light Armor.
Harpooner's Wading Kilt and the one piece bonus of Slimecraw is the gold standard for parsing however monster sets are now really good in situations where you may not be able to keep up Kilt stacks especially now that monster sets can crit again.
Maw of the Infernal is probably best for Dragonknights with Flame Damage boost and Burning procs but Nerien'eth, Kjalnar's Nightmare, Z'aan's and even Stormfist/Iceheart are good alternatives as well as Domihaus if the ring can hit the enemy's hitbox.
Secondary set alternatives such as Burning Spellweave with Sul-Xan's Torment and Grothdarr for trash scenarios can be extremely good.
Bloodthirsty is still the best jewelry trait on the Magicka Dragonknight.
Dual Wield daggers will outparse double Inferno Staves in melee range but since a lot of your skills are melee/short range anyway you want to stay melee whenever possible. Double Charged on Dual Wield versus Nirnhoned and Charged on Dual Wield are very close but Double Charged seems to edge out the other setup slightly.
If you do need to go ranged, a Precise Inferno Staff is your best option as your Critical Chance will be lower without two Daggers equipped due to the loss of the Dual Wield passive but Charged can be pretty good too if you don't think you need the Critical rating.
Note on Bahsei's Mania usage:
Battle Roar and Bahsei don't synergize too well together.
You can take one or both points out of the Battle Roar passive to keep your Magicka low but if possible try to avoid doing that for actual content. Instead just try to line it up to where you're bottoming out on Magicka right as you get your Ultimate.
On the dummy, if you take Shards on cooldown, you will actually oversustain and Bahsei's will be less effective.
Try not to take Shards or synergies above 35% or so or right before your Ultimate comes up.
If you start a fight with 500 Ultimate, you will shoot back up to full no matter how much you dump your initial Magicka pool so keep this in mind when practicing on the raid dummy or preparing for the next boss fight.
Skills Review
These bars work pretty well across the board. If you need to slot a shield or anything else, you can either run Tzogvin/Medusa and drop Barbed Trap or drop Inner Light on the backbar and run regular Spell Power potions. If you need to run Elemental Rage to burst something down in under 10 seconds, you can either do Dawnbreaker on the frontbar with Elemental Rage on the backbar or Standard of Might on the frontbar with Elemental Rage on the backbar depending on the fight.
Burning Talons is a very good Damage over Time effect if you can sustain it.
If you have to go ranged, Force Pulse is certainly an option.
Prebuffing and Opening Rotation
Dump your Magicka to about 40% before engaging then cast Igneous Weapons.
Cast Flames of Oblivion twice, Channeled Acceleration and then your third Flames of Oblivion.
Cast Scalding Rune and then Unstable Wall on your target with a Light Attack in between these two casts.
Dynamic Rotation
The priority list (from top to bottom) is as follows:
- Unstable Wall
- Engulfing Flames
- Burning Embers
- Flames of Oblivion
- Eruption
- Barbed Trap
- Scalding Rune
- Degeneration
There is no need to recast your DoTs early whenever you're about to cast a Standard of Might but that's something you can do if you wish.
On the dummy, you will be able to cast up to 3 Standards of Might and a final Flawless Dawnbreaker at the end.
Static Rotation
A simple static rotation looks like this in order (with a Light Attack in between each skill), note that your prebuffing/opening rotation will remain the same:
Scalding Rune -> Wall -> Engulfing Flames -> Burning Embers -> Eruption -> Degeneration -> Standard of Might -> Whip 4x -> Wall -> Whip 3x ->Flames of Oblivion -> Degeneration -> Repeat
Worst case scenario simply keep in mind that for both a static and dynamic rotation, casting Engulfing Flames and Burning Embers one after another is a good staple of the two types of rotations and refresh DoTs as need be.
Z'en's Redress Rotation
If you're running Z'en's then keeping up your single target dots for your group becomes very important, which are:
- Engulfing Flames
- Burning Embers
- Barbed Trap
- Scalding Rune
- Degeneration
- Burning/Poisoned/Hemorrhaging DoTs
Because you have so many single target dots, you don't need to worry too much about changing your rotation to accommodate Z'en, just make sure you don't let multiple skills run out at the same time!

Champion Points Review
For the Warfare Slottables, the typical setup is Backstabber, Fighting Finesse, Master-at-Arms and Deadly Aim. If you can or need to replace either Backstabber or Fighting Finesse, you can go with Thaumaturge as the next best slottable.
Gear Alternatives and Setups
Trash (Inferno/Inferno)
Burning Spellweave (backbar, Infused)
Sul-Xan's Torment (frontbar, Precise)
Dungeons (Dual Wield/Inferno)
Maw of the Infernal or Kjalnar's Nightmare
Tzogvin (frontbar)
Maelstom Inferno (backbar)
Arenas/Solo (Inferno/Inferno)
Medusa (frontbar)
Introduction (Update 32, Deadlands)
Post Update 32 buffs to the Magicka Dragonknight class has seen it skyrocket to being one of the most desirable damage dealers to have in raids and other PvE content at various levels including world record scorepushes.
Recommended race for this build is Altmer or Dunmer. Khajiit seems to be a little bit lower on the dummy, but can still be good in raid, especially in places like Sunspire where the Critical Damage passive of the Khajiit makes up for Backstabber being useless.
Recommended Mundus Stone is The Thief.
Recommended potions for this build will be Essence of Heroism. Heroism potions will give you the most Ultimate casts possible while normal Spell Power potions will typically lose you a bit of damage however they are cheaper and what you'll run anyway if you have to drop Inner Light.
Recommended food for this build is Ghastly Eye Bowl or any bi-stat food (Health + Magicka) for content that requires you to do so. You can also do Clockwork Citrus Filet or Witchmother's Potent Brew if need be.
